Now I may have just bitten of more than I can chew.

This past weekend, adding a puppy to the family wasn’t the only big decision made in our household. We have also signed up, and paid for, the Lewis and Clark Marathon. We ran the half-marathon in 2006 and it was quite the emotional trek for us. We were new to the sport of running and we had no idea how hard and rewarding it would be. There were tears and at one point a beer while we finished what turned out to be a turning point in our lives.
Since that day, we haven’t kept up with the full training that will be needed for this loopy idea that we can pull off 26.2, but we do have 164 days (as of this writing) to get into shape. We’re going to continue to run 3 to 5 miles until June 1st, at which point we will start a modified version of the running plan that I’m presenting to you.
With both of us in school, working full time, and the new puppy, marathon training probably sounds like the last thing we should take on. But you know what? I’m ready to take it on and finish this thing. (I’m aiming for 4 – 4.5 hours)
